An integral part of our remit as the National Centre for Creativity is to nurture new talent and provide an adequate platform for enhancing their skills and showcasing their creations. Collaborations like the annual MCAST ICA Festival are crucial for fostering new generations of artists and creatives, offering hundreds of graduating students the opportunity to pursue careers in the cultural and creative sector and beyond.
Now in its eighth edition, this venture has become a cornerstone of the Spazju Kreattiv programme, enabling a multidisciplinary event that celebrates creativity in various forms. Throughout the months leading up to the project, both entities work together to ensure the Festival’s aims and objectives are achieved at the highest level. These collaborative efforts are evident not only in the college’s educational framework but also in the career trajectories students can pursue. They are encouraged to explore narratives and experiment with different mediums of expression, and our organisation supports this process by providing first-hand experience in the development of creative concepts and the implementation of their work.
Within a professional platform that combines experienced knowledge and expertise, this Festival will once again showcase a collection of exhibits that challenge the status quo and explore a multitude of topics. This approach enhances the artists’ journey towards creative fulfilment, enriching the visitor experience and offering the public the opportunity to contribute to and enjoy this celebration of creativity in the present and future.
I would like to express my gratitude to MCAST’s staff for their unwavering commitment, with special mention to Dr Martina Caruana for her dedication and support in ensuring the sustained success of this event. Likewise, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the staff of Spazju Kreattiv who have embraced this initiative and back its continued evolution. Lastly, I thank the students and their families for their efforts and wish them success in their futures. May this learning experience enhance their ability to dissect social matters and fuel their continued creative endeavours.
